It’s the Friday before Christmas, and it’s snowing outside. The perfect time to write up the directions for the Two-Tone Snowflake Ornaments I posted a couple of weeks ago.

Bright White Snowflake
with Pale Pink
Bright White Snowflake
with Pale Blue

These ornaments aren’t your traditional light, airy, snowflakes. I wanted the ornaments to be extra durable so they could survive the attention of both children and my 3 cats who love pulling things out of the Christmas Tree and hitting/chasing them all around the house. I came up with a very compact, sturdy design and decided to make them out of 1/4” paper to give them more weight. I also didn’t let the coils expand to full-size by placing them in the two smallest openings in the Lake City Design Board.

Directions:

Make the following pieces from 1/4” Bright White
6 – 5” Marquise
6 – 5” Teardrops
6 – 2.5” Heart Scrolls
1 – 1.25” Tight Roll

Make the following pieces from 1/4” using a very pale color for a two-tone snowflake, or you can use Bright White for plain snowflake.
6 – 11” Eccentric Teardrops

Glue the 6 marquise together to make snowflake center

Glue the small 5” Teardrops to the rounded tops of the Eccentric Teardrops

Put small amount of glue inside center crease of the heart scrolls and glue to the bottom of the Eccentric Teardrops

Pull each arm of the Heart Scroll up over the top of the Eccentric Teardrop to rest against side of the small teardrop – glue in place

Glue the Eccentric Teardrops between the marquise of snowflake center.

Glue the tight roll at top of one snowflake arm.

Thread a short piece of ornament string through the hole of the tight roll, tie a knot and you are ready to hang the ornament on your Christmas Tree.

Enjoy your ornaments and have a Merry Christmas!
